No, I’m not talking about E= MC2. The equation that we see used everywhere, from sales people to governments, is
PROBLEM —- REACTION —– SOLUTION
We create a problem, or highlight a problem that already exists. We keep agitating this problem to get a reaction from people. If we are a sales person, we want people to realize they need our product. For example, a producer of snow shovels may talk about the predicted high snowfall this coming year and how we better be prepared. Lastly, a solution is proposed. The motive is revealed. We want you to (fill-in the blank) buy this product, take this action, sign up for a course, etc.)
Once we become aware of this equation, we can see more clearly what is happening in the world at large, as well as within our local community. Everyone knows that when people get agitated enough they will take action.
We have to look at who is pulling the strings so that we don’t immediately react to a problem that is occurring. Then we can more clearly see if any action is required and what is in our best interest.
